A mile or so outside of town, the group was approached by a royal postman. "Oh yes, you lot look about right... pray-tell, are you the folks from, um, Nuh... Nie... Niethbay?" "Yes, we're the folks from Neathby..."
I hope this letter finds you well. If my divinations are correct, you’ll be nearing the town of Bloodvale when this is delivered to you… I’ve always been in awe of the post in Karak…
I was ecstatic to hear of your relatively safe arrival on Mithgarthr after my, um, “meeting” with Kolmurg and his friends Gebzeg and Rottbreath. I was able to use the spell that was being cast on you fellows to affect those ruffians as well, though I had to spin it just right so that they’d be sent somewhere random and you would be sent somewhere at least close to your original destination, Middenheim. You’ll be happy to hear that I’ve arraigned a boat that will take you from Bloodvale out to the island where Gurri’s shrine-barrow is located. You’ll find a fellow named Debe at the docks; he’s tall with fiery hair, you can’t miss him. Show him this letter, and he’ll get you to your destination and back to the mainland after you’ve found your next clue.
On a more serious note, I’ve recently learned that an old student of mine, Morkar, has turned his sight towards Chaos. You must find Gurri’s axe before Morkar and his ilk do! I will see you soon, friends.
I, Prince Magnus Eriksson von Karak, officially decree that these fellows in league with Geam Swie of Neathby are hereby granted the title of: “Friends of The Crown of Karak”
This is effective immediately throughout the kingdom.

Using they key they found some time ago (See Exploring Cairnvarthi #3), they opened the third chamber of the shrine-barrow. Inside, they found the freshly carved words "FIND THE THUNDERSTRUCK RAVEN" on the wall. After confirming there were no secret or hidden areas to be found, they headed back out to Debe, who brought them back to Bloodvale where Geam himself was waiting for the party!
They spoke for a while, regaling him with tales of their adventures since the teleport. They learned from Geam that apparently they had lost time when their teleport when awry (about three months), and they also learned about a famous thief named Raven from a place in the kingdom of Nordriki known as Torendal, "Valley of Thunder." If a thunderstruck raven is to be found, Geam informed them, it likely had something to do with Raven. He directed the group to find the jarl of Torendal's capital, Melenaar. Geam told them that the jarl, an elf named Smitty, would be able to assist them in their search.
In the morning, the group and Geam had a pleasant breakfast, and parted ways. Heading back west, they traveled back through Riverton, but this time kept following the Haendlerstrasse (Merchant's Road) en route to Jarski, where they could catch a boat up to Jorsfarth in Nordriki and continue on.
However, as they were coming out of the foothills of the Tralaburgs and first getting sight of Dale Lake, they were attacked by a hill giant who had taken a small cave close to the road as a lair. The group felled the beast, and that is where we ended the session for the evening!
